Deconstruction Support Group

Hybrid (virtual & in-person)

with Ramona Pauls

8 Wednesdays, April 3, April 10, May 1, May 8, May 22, June 5, June 19, July 3, 2024

Many of us find ourselves at some point in the unsettling space of deconstruction. As we gain life experience and encounter new ways of being in the world, some of our old truths just don’t seem to fit. This is particularly true if we grew up in religious homes and/or within a culture that gave us a narrowly defined way of living. Our new experiences seem to counter some of the things we were taught to believe, and we begin challenging the beliefs we grew up with. We enter this dissonant space that can feel dark and sometimes lonely, as we evaluate our previously held beliefs, relationships, and worldviews. The deconstruction process can feel isolating and disorienting, but there is comfort and strength in knowing you are not alone.

This 3-month support group was created to help us find some grounding, allow freedom to question, and find community as we journey on our unique path of deconstruction and reclamation.

  • Maybe you are looking to connect with other folks going through religious deconstruction.

  • Maybe you need space to experiment with your faith, to share your hurt and confusion, to heal, and to find your voice again.

  • If you are finding yourself in that space today, and want more information on this group check out rhspiritualdirection.com for details.

Ramona Pauls completed the Prairie Jubilee Program and has been studying the enneagram for some years, working with the lens of this ancient wisdom in her own spiritual practice, and in the direction space. Her spiritual roots are Christian, mostly found in the Mennonite church, and she has been on her own deconstruction journey, reinterpreting and reclaiming what holds true for her today. She has found much wisdom in other traditions and particularly in the mystic teachings.
