Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do we spend online in each year?

When we meet for our weekend teaching sessions, we will meet from 9-12 with 1-2 breaks. There will be another 1-2 hours together in the afternoon with a break and an end of day ritual in the evening for 30-45 min. Other sessions will be scheduled through group discussion and will be of short duration (30 min to 2 hours)

Can I take each year separately?

You can take Year One and not continue with Year Two but Year One is a requirement for Year Two.

How much of the program involves the teaching of the enneagram?

Ordinarily, people think of the enneagram as it relates to typology. Prairie Jubilee uses the enneagram as a map leading to soul expansion and as a way to open to the world of Spirit. Being open to Spirit is essential for a spiritual director. The enneagram will be the focus of one module in the first year, enabling students to explore and identify their patterns of behaviour. While the enneagram is not the named topic of other modules, it is always there to support and inform spiritual formation.

Is the cost of individual spiritual direction included in the registration fee?

No, this is additional cost. Fees for spiritual direction vary and many directors have a sliding scale. The cost per session is something that you need to discuss with any potential director. It is hoped that you will see your director monthly.

How online silent retreat work? Is it really necessary?

A primary teaching in the Prairie Jubilee program is spiritual practices. Making a retreat is a spiritual practice and doing this together offers the opportunity for instruction as to how to shape a retreat. During the retreat weekend there will be a teaching on Silence, contemplative morning and evening practice, and the opportunity for spiritual direction.

How big are the classes?

In the past, Cycles have varied from 8-18 participants. You can expect to spend time with the full group whatever the size, but also within small group break-out rooms.

What is unique about the Prairie Jubilee program?

Prairie Jubilee is part of Jubilee associates and so we have a close link to two other Canadian spiritual direction programs. Of the three Jubilee programs, Prairie has the enneagram as a core teaching. Some other Canadian programs are held within a religious-dominational setting and ethos. While the present Prairie Jubilee leaders have had Christian formation, Prairie Jubilee does not align with any denomination. Our participants have had various religious backgrounds and no religious background.

Is financial assistance available?

If you feel called to Prairie Jubilee but find the registration fee prohibitive, please contact Dale Bially to discuss options.
