Spring Awakening Retreat: Listening with the Labyrinth

“The labyrinth is a spiritual tool that has many applications in various settings.

It reduces stress, quiets the mind and opens the heart. It is a walking meditation, a path of prayer

and a blueprint where psyche meets Spirit.”

The Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress

Spring Awakening Retreat -

Listening with the Labyrinth

Monday, April 15 - Wednesday, April 17, 2024

With Miriam Frey and Catharine Mitchell

Jericho House Retreat Centre, Near Port Colborne, Ontario

Join us at the warm and welcoming Jericho House, near the shore of Lake Erie, as we explore possibilities given us by Spring’s awakening. We will be supported on our inner pilgrimage by Jericho House’s outdoor labyrinth, a 24-foot indoor canvas labyrinth, and a variety of hand-held supports. Take this opportunity to follow the beckoning of the changing seasons and travel the path that leads you home to yourself.

The retreat runs for three days and two nights: beginning April 15 at 4:00 pm and ending April 17 at 1:00 pm.

You are invited to join us as we build our community together and explore the ancient practice of the labyrinth as an inward path through outdoor, indoor, and finger labyrinth walks. There will be opportunities to deepen and integrate your experiences through a variety of both guided and self-selected creative and journalling activities. Our schedule is spacious, with room to follow your own inner promptings, including walking the labyrinths, wandering the woodlands of Jericho House, or observing the wildlife at the nearby Wainfleet Wetlands. Each day will begin and end with meditative moments.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation, all meals, and snacks are included. Jericho House uses local food sources wherever possible, and meals are made from scratch. (If you have special dietary needs, please let us know on the registration form.) Each person will have a private room and bathroom, with all linens and towels provided. Jericho House is all on one level and fully accessible.

Miriam Frey

Miriam Frey began walking and studying the labyrinth in the early 1990s when she returned from Africa. She found the labyrinth to be an important spiritual practice for her own healing. Over the last 25 years she has invited many in the Ontario Jubilee program to walk the labyrinth as an individual and communal spiritual practice. Miriam lives in Kitchener and serves as a spiritual companion.

Catharine Mitchell

Catharine has spent many years studying the language of the Sacred known as Symbol, with a focus upon the exploration of the profound relationship between Science/Nature and the Divine. She has a deep love for Celtic spirituality and the mystical connection with Place. This led organically to the Labyrinth as a tool for inner knowing, community transformation, and the connection of spiritual practice within the container of Earth itself. Catharine is a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator, and is the Program Coordinator for Ontario Jubilee.
