Ted Harrison

Ted was ordained in the year 2000, when he began serving churches in northern Ontario. He’s since earned his Doctor of Ministry degree. He’s been deeply involved with Manitou Conference (the wider court of the United Church in north-eastern Ontario) serving as its President from 2011 through 2013.

Ted has real passion for Christian worship, with a focus on relevant and dynamic preaching that draws on scripture, humour, and music.

Ted was trained as a spiritual director in the Pacific Jubilee expression of the program, and that training informs much of his work. He is respectful of other faiths and traditions, and enjoys making theological connections with others.

Ted loves canoeing, cross-country skiing, reading, and jogging. He plays cowbell in a rock band ( No, really!).

A Word From Ted: “My ministry concentrates on a lively and relevant approach to the Christian faith, which is orthodox without being close-minded or disrespectful to other paths. My passion in ministry is to encourage people and give them the tools to engage the work to which God calls us. This means broadening our sense of what is “spiritual”– and worship is central to that work. We need inspiration, we need permission to claim our perception of the holy in the world, and we need to become more articulate as seekers, and as people of faith.”
