Jan Van Aertselaer

I live near Ste Anne, MB, about 30 minutes outside of Winnipeg. Although I grew up in Winnipeg, I have chosen to live in rural communities within Saskatchewan and Manitoba for most of my adult years. I thrive on being close to prairie or forest, water and rocks. I am happiest and most content when I’m in the water, on the water in our canoe, or in our small tent, listening to waves washing into shore, wind blowing through the trees or the silence of a calm night.

I hold a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) and an MDiv (Master of Divinity). However, my most important learnings have come from people with whom I’ve shared life and work over many years in many circumstances. I have lived in several Indigenous communities and I cherish the relationships and teachings from those years which have continued to accompany me.

I am not afraid to dive deep. As a swimmer in my bodily life, I’m also a swimmer in my spiritual life.  I’m fascinated by loons ... deep divers ... and I sometimes fancy myself as a close relative.

I completed the Prairie Jubilee Program between 2004 and 2006. I am retired and I enjoy having the gift of time to explore matters of the spirit within group settings or with other seekers, one-on-one.
