Drake Schupsky

I was raised in a charismatic evangelical home and spent 15 years in youth ministry. I later served as a worship leader and assistant pastor for eight years before experiencing burnout, followed by a long season of reflection. During that time, I slowly learned what it meant to let God pursue me, rather than feeling that I had to strive to pursue God.

At 43, a deeply meaningful encounter expanded my understanding of God and opened the door to a more contemplative and emotionally integrated spirituality. This began a journey of metanoia — a gentle rethinking of long-held beliefs and assumptions. I found myself facing old wounds, biases, and fears with honesty and compassion. Over time, this inner work led to a quieter, more grounded life.

This evolving faith has included uncertainty and change, but it has also led me into a more spacious and loving spiritual community. I continue to experience spirituality as an eternal treasure hunt rather than a quest for perfection.

As a spiritual companion, I feel especially drawn to walking alongside men who long for a deeper understanding of their lives, their relationships, and life with God. My own journey, along with years of pastoral and life experience, allows me to sit with others in seasons of questioning, healing, and growth.

I offer companionship in areas such as:
- Deepening into a more intimate and restful relationship with God
- Gently exploring and re-examining one’s worldview
- Healing from emotional or spiritual wounds
- Integrating emotional health and spiritual health
- Becoming more aware of the True Self hidden beneath our persona's and expectations
- Using the Enneagram as a tool for compassionate self-understanding
- Learning to trust one’s intuition and inner wisdom
- Exploring one’s sense of meaning and calling

In our time together, I offer a calm, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely and be met with care. I listen attentively and may even offer some reflections or questions that may help you see your experience more clearly, and always at your pace.

A line adapted from Carl Jung has stayed with me: “It is not enough to point toward the light if no one can see it. What is needed is to help people learn how to see for themselves.”

If you are curious about what might be unfolding within you — even if you feel uncertain — I would be honored to walk with you for a season and explore what may already be quietly turning inside of you.

What is spiritual direction?
Here is a hilarious YouTube video that serves as a light-hearted example of a spiritual direction session. Enjoy, and please don't take it too seriously.
